Beer Guide 2014: Raccoon Lodge

Raccoon Lodge

7424 SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, 296-0110, raclodge.com. 11:30 am-10 pm Monday-Saturday, 11:30 am-9 pm Sunday.

Raccoon Lodge doesn't exactly feel like a lodge. The downstairs bar, especially, isn't a particularly warm layout—but a panoramic view of one of the best breweries in the world helps. Cascade Brewing may tap and age its sours at the Barrel House on Southeast Belmont Street, but they all start at Raccoon Lodge. The family-centric upstairs restaurant and the bar each have four rotating sours on tap (also with a large bottle selection), but we strongly recommend the lower levels. Beyond sours, the coveted Oblique Black and White Coffee Stout, one of the most vividly coffee-tasting beers in existence and one of our top beers of 2012, is nearly always available. JORDAN GREEN.

DRINK THIS: It's the only decent spot on the west side of the river to get sours, so drink the sours.
