Al Jazeera America Says Portland is Nation's Whitest City

It's no secret that Portland is a largely white city, but is it really the whitest? 

This report from Al Jazeera America claims so.

The numbers are a bit in dispute. The Oregonian's analysis of census data from 2010 says Portland is, while a confusing 2011 story in the Seattle Times says that Portland is both the whitest and the third whitest city in America. Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh daily paper claimed in 2011 that distinction for its own city, based on an analysis of a Brookings Institution report.
