What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day this Friday with your sweetheart than some forward-thinking dance music? Night Slug boss and avant-beat maestro L-Vis 1990 visits the Rose to play with Beyonda and the Bubblin' boys. Dont be surprised to see Portland showing up more and more on Night Slugs in the coming year. The show benefits Basic Rights Oregon, which ensures that everyone, no matter their orientation, has the right to divorce. (9:30 pm, $8, 21+)    

The Belmont Bodega is throwing a party on Saturday. Panty Raid promises both “sweaty queer bodies” and a “5 Fingers Deep Makeout and Fisting Room.” Breakmode will be manning the decks, playing house and hopefully some of his own remixes of local(ish) acts like Acid Farm and Reva DeVito. Though not a scent-free space, it is safe in many other respects, so let your freak flag fly, man. (9 pm, $5)  

Movement is back this Saturday with a live Strategy set at the Rose. He'll be joined by former Glass Candy member Avalon Kalin, who has perfected the instrumental style he began developing with the group. Brokenwindow, Gulls and Brad Vachal round out the all-local evening of techno, disco and house—pretty much all you'd want to dance to anyway… (9 pm, $5, 21+)   

… unless, of course, you’re unvaccinated against the trap bug, which has certainly infected L.A.’s Crnkn. Avoiding the sounds of the 808, Crnkn basically makes hip hop that builds, dropping suddenly not on deep kicks and synth rips but catchy pop melodies. It almost sounds as if it were a middle-class white dude from New Hampshire exploring a genre whose origins—the “trap” of drug dealing—he has no experience with. Oh wait… (9 pm, $10, 18+)
