Comics Publisher IDW is Opening an Office in Portland

The company is starting a new Portland-based imprint.

Dark Horse, Brian Michael Bendis and Matt Fraction all call Portland home. Now, the city can add another name to its little black book of comics giants: IDW Publishing.

The prolific IDW, whose publishing credits include Ghostbusters and Star Trek comics, will continue to operate out of San Diego. However, the company has announced that it will open a Portland office.

While no specific location for the office has been announced, IDW said in a statement that it will be run by their vice president of marketing, Dirk Wood, and that the office will focus on a new imprint of IDW called Woodworks.

Woodworks will include a new line of books and a magazine that will focus on both comics and other forms of art, including TV. Wood, who is from Portland, says he is looking forward to being a part of "the incredible comics scene that's taking off in Portland."

Sounds good. Now is there any chance IDW can publish a comic about Jean-Luc Picard and the Slimer slugging it out on top of Big Pink?
