It’s Easy to Imagine Jimmy Buffett Happily Wasting Away at the Florida Room

Run by longtime vets of the service industry, it’s the kind of no-nonsense bar where you’d expect to find off-duty bartenders with a smoke in one hand and a stiff greyhound made with fresh-squeezed grapefruit in the other.

True to its namesake, it's easy to imagine 1970s Jimmy Buffett in all his coked-up, pre-"Margaritaville" glory happily wasting away at the Florida Room. Run by longtime vets of the service industry, it's the kind of no-nonsense bar where you'd expect to find off-duty bartenders with a smoke in one hand and a stiff greyhound made with fresh-squeezed grapefruit in the other. "S.I.N. all the damn time" is the the Florida Room's proud rallying cry, offering anyone with an alcohol service card happy-hour pricing at all times. The drink and food menus are simple and reflective of the establishment's general ethos, which is evident in the hilarious "Incident Log" on the bar's website and the bartenders' take-no-shit-from-idiots service. Dollar cans of Olympia and the bar's many liquor infusions, displayed proudly in old Mason jars, are all favorites, along with a happy-hour food menu that includes a pair of pulled pork sliders or a burger for only $5.
