Though the historic Academy Theater spent a few decades closed or operating as other businesses, it returned to full theatrical form in 2006 and has remained a stellar independent movie theater ever since. Showing a mix of new releases and older ones, the Academy also serves food from nearby restaurants—as well as drinks, and even provides babysitting for kids during screenings.
