Cult-rap hero Aesop Rock lived in Portland for the hottest of minutes—so hot that hardly anyone seemed to notice. He's already returned to New York, but he was apparently here long enough to shoot a video for "Rings," the lead single off his upcoming album, The Impossible Kid. To be truthful, though, most of the clip literally takes place inside his head. After getting hit by a car, Aesop gets his dome split open, and what we see looks not unlike a Tool video from the '90s. (The video was directed by Rob Shaw, an animator Portland's Bent Image Lab.) Getting sewn up, he stumbles, confused, into Kachka—WW's 2014 Restaurant of the Year—presumably for some post-surgery herring and vodka…before everything goes wrong again. The Impossible Kid drops April 29, and Aesop plays Boise's Treefort festival in March.
