Lynn Peterson Wins Metro Council Presidency, But Other Contests Are Close

Juan Carlos Gonzalez wins a Metro seat representing Washington County.

Lynn Peterson

Lynn Peterson handily won the Metro Council presidency tonight, defeating Michael Langley.

Peterson, a former Clackamas County chairwoman, transportation advisor to former Gov. John Kitzhaber and secretary of transportation for the state of Washington brought an overwhelming resume to the race to replace current Metro President Tom Hughes.

Early returns suggest that she'll be joined on the council by Juan Carlos Gonzalez, the development director at Centro Cultural de Washington County. He's leading Dana Carstensen in the race to fill the District 4 (Washington County) seat being vacated by Councilor Kathryn Harrington.

In District 2 in Clackamas County, incumbent councilor Betty Dominguez, trails Lake Oswego City Councilor Joe Buck and BOLI lobbyist Christine Lewis. Buck is headed to the November runoff, but it's not clear which opponent is joining him.
