As he battles brain cancer, Secretary of State Dennis Richardson has limited his public schedule, including only attending meetings of State Land Board by telephone, as WW has reported previously.
This morning, Richardson announced he is reducing his schedule further.
"Beginning this week, I will be scaling back my in-office hours to be able to rest and give my treatment every opportunity to succeed," Richardson said in a statment today. "I will, of course, continue to be in frequent and regular contact with my staff that has been doing incredible work since the day we took office over two years ago. I will also continue to be the decision-maker on all important issues."
Richardson is a former state representative from Central Point, who was also the Republican nominee for governor in 2014. In 2016, he became the first Republican to win statewide office in Oregon in three decades.
