It's a big mistake to think of this upscale aerie located in the 30th floor of Big Pink just as the go-to restaurant for special occasions or showing off the city to out-of-state visitors. Aside from the nearly $100 filet and lobster tail, the formidable menu is no more (or less) expensive than many of the city's popular ground-floor eateries and, indeed, comes with an added bonus—compelling views of the city and our surrounding landscape. Like the view, the handsome Pacific Northwest-inspired ambience is elegant yet comfortable. The same is true of the Asian Pacific-influenced cuisine, a winning combination of sushi, seafood, grill specialties and scrumptious house-crafted desserts. Particularly distinguishing are the fresh classic and contemporary rolls on the sizable sushi menu, prepared by the city's only sushi shokunin (a certified master sushi chef title that takes 10 years or more to earn). The lounge's happy hour is a hit with downtown professionals, making the huge crush of nibbling imbibers an inescapable part of the scene. (JO)
