Willamette Week presents Cartathlon IV! This mobile-eatery-themed scavenger hunt and urban footrace celebrates Portlanders' love of food carts, defiance of winter weather, and affinity for oddball competition.
Working in teams of five, participants will have four hours to: decipher riddles; eat; ride Tri-Met; find Portlandian landmarks; eat; complete random tasks; take photos; and eat. The route encompasses Southeast, Southwest, Northeast and North Portland as contestants race between some of Portland's most popular food cart pods, earning points to vie for the grand prize of free food cart food for a year! Prizes also will be awarded for best dressed team, best team name and more.
Teams of five may register for $60 per team. The participation fee includes breakfast snacks and Ninkasi samples, free Tri-Met passes, free food along the route, free Cartathlon swag for each team member and admission to an after-party where each member of your team will receive a free pint of Ninkasi.
Sunday, March 2
10:30 am: Registration begins at Willamette Week World Headquarters // 2220 NW Quimby Street
12:00 am to 12:30 pm: Race starts. (Organized by heat) Start times are sharp. If your team does not finish by 4:30 pm, you will be disqualified and therefore ineligible for prizes.
4:00 pm to 4:30 pm: Race concludes.
4:00 pm and on: Ninkasi Brewing sponsors after-party at Green Dragon // 928 SE 9th Ave.
Registration Deadline: Thursday, February 27, 1:00 pm.
