Sad news: Baker Melissa McKinney's Northeast Fremont Street sweet toother, Criollo Bakery closed last Saturday, June 10. McKinney says she shuttered her bakery in part because of finances. New chef (and ex-Gotham Bldg. Tavern man) Gabriel Rucker rechristened the cafe Le Pigeon last Wednesday. According to Rucker, the name came from his Gotham buddy Tommy Habetz, who was helping out in Rucker's new kitchen two weeks ago. He pointed to the tattoo of a flight of pigeons on Rucker's arm and told the chef, "You've got your name right there."
