Band Name of the Week: Buttfrenchers

So, apparently the punk brats who go by last week's Band Name of the Week, Clit 45, are too punk to play Local Cut's little game (for the original spiel, go here). Oh well, we've still got the Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza and On the First Day...They Were Kittens under our belts, so let's forge ahead with this week's lucky owner of the title: Buttfrenchers. Portland's own salad-tossin' screamo/jam band was an obvious choice because, well, few things are more intriguing than frenching butts, right?

Actually, a couple of the bands accompanying Buttfrenchers at their upcoming Tonic Lounge show have pretty darn notable names, too. Ape City R&B and a long-time anti-favorite of mine, the Headliners (shit like this just makes a job like compiling an entire city's music calendar that much more confusting/frustrating) join Buttfrenchers at the Tonic on Friday, Oct. 13 (9:30 pm. Cover. 21+). The call has been made, come on back to Local Cut next week to see if Buttfrenchers had anything to say for themselves.
