Oregon's biggest media magnate is not Robert Pamplin Jr., the scion of the Pamplin fortune and the owner of the Portland Tribune and several suburban newspapers, including the Lake Oswego Review. It is the lesser-known Larry Wilson, who once ran Citadel Broadcasting, which owned more than 200 radio stations when Wilson sold it for more than $2 billion in 2001. Wilson, who is generally regarded as one of the giants in the radio industry, climbed back into the business a few years ago with the purchase of KXL, KINK, 95.5 and three other Oregon stations.
So why are we writing about Wilson? Because he recently put his 3,000-acre ranch in Montana on the market for $12.7 million. More than three miles of the trout-rich Sun River runs through the property. The newly remarried Wilson reportedly plans to spend more time at his homes in Portland and Hawaii.
