View Point Inn Owners Join Occupy Wall Street Protest

Geoff Thompson and his partner, Angelo Simione, whose Viewpoint Inn burned in July, joined the Occupy Wall Street crowd in downtown Portland over the weekend.--- (In the video from Salem-News.com below, Thompson speaks to the camera first at the 32 second mark and again later; Simione speaks at the 48 second mark).

Both men have in recent months blamed President Barack Obama and other policy makers, including Gov. John Kitzhaber for failing to make sure that federal stimulus dollars flowed not just to big banks, but to small businesses such as the Viewpoint Inn. The Inn's creditors, who are owed more than $3 million, say the blame lies with Thompson and Simione, who among other mistakes, neglected to maintain fire insurance on the Inn.
