Beau Breedlove (yes, that Beau Breedlove) is opening a "French dance cafe" at the South Waterfront (0315 SW Montgomery St. #150) called Vie. "We'll have a small area for slow dancing and such, and later in the evening expand it to a larger space for dancing," Breedlove told WW on the phone this afternoon.
The restaurant will only offer dinner service to begin with, serving Provencal French cuisine: "So a little bit larger, heartier portions," says Breedlove. "Not Americanized French like small plates."
Breedlove, who is the cousin of Portland restaurateur Bruce Carey (Bluehour, Clark Lewis, Saucebox), is hoping to open the doors sometime in the next seven to 10 weeks.
In other news via OLCC licenses:
Autentica and Mextiza chef/owner Oswaldo Bibiano is opening a taco joint, Uno Mas, at upcoming micro-restaurant food court the Ocean. I have to admit, I rolled my eyes when the Ocean concept was first announced (in fairness, it was pitched as a "food cart incubator" which doesn't seem to be what it's evolved into) but between Adam Berger's meatball and milkshake place 24th and Meatballs, John and Capriel Pence's fried chicken spot Basa Basa, Slow Bar's Slow Burger spinoff and now this, I think this could be really great.
Lily Tollefsen and Jonathan will open Radar Restaurant in the former site of North Portland Bike Works at 3951 N Mississippi Ave. They're pitching it as "American tapas" and also plan screen European soccer matches.
Long-time Portland food cart Divine Cafe is moving (or perhaps has moved?) to the Good Food Here pod at Southeast 42nd and Belmont. It has applied for a limited license for booze to be consumed inside a "walled tent."
The space that once housed Saratoga at 6910 N Interstate Ave. will now be home to the Office.
Southern-themed bar Miss Delta on Mississippi Avenue is changing hands: the new owner will be DMK Group LLC.
