Kendall Clawson Withdraws Her Name From Consideration for OLCC Post

Gov. John Kitzhaber's difficulties with the Oregon Liquor Control Commission continue. Kitzhaber struggled last year to remove OLCC director Steve Pharo, whom the five-member commission continued to support after Kitzhaber wanted him gone.

More recently, the commission voted down a 25-cent-per bottle tax increase Kitzhaber and legislative leaders wanted.

Now, Kitzhaber's hand-picked successor to Pharo, gubernatorial appointments director Kendall Clawson, has withdrawn her name from consideration six days after Kitzhaber recommended her for the job. 

Kitzhaber's spokesman, Tim Raphael, says Clawson has indeed decided she does not want the OLCC job.  "She appreciates the governor's confidence in her but is happy in her current position," Raphael says.
