The reclusive medical tycoon Loren Parks wrote his first big checks of the November cycle, giving $100,000 to the Oregon Small Business Association Political Action Committee and $60,000 to the Oregon Sportsmen's Association. Parks has long been right at the top of contributors to conservative causes in Oregon, focusing mostly on ballot measures.
The Oregon Sheriffs' Association also made a big splash, contributing $100,000 to the campaign opposed to marijuana legalization. That contribution marks the first cash the No On 91 Campaign has reported. The legalization campaign, New Approach Oregon, has raised $1.3 million since qualifying for the ballot and has spent all that an committed to spending $2 million more on advertising.
