Buy PDX: Vegan Condoms and Ninja Suits

A weekly roundup of retail sales and events.

Ninja Suit X Poler Stuff

Editor's Note: Portland, you're savvy. But you're also thrifty. That's why we're bringing you Buy PDX, a weekly roundup of retail events and sales around Portland. Every Tuesday, we'll let you know the best places to drop your precious dollars.

There's an "article of clothing" that WW has yet to cover—one that acts as both a hat and a rainjacket and can be worn by men and women, simultaneously. If you're not one for riddles, here's the answer: a condom. The Vermont-based Sustain Condoms has a revolutionary idea when it comes to the philosophy, make and impact this form of contraception has on individuals, business and the environment—hell, on the world as a whole. Co-founders Jeffrey Hollender and daughter Meika may not seem like your typical business partners, especially when it comes to rubbers, but their shared passion for sustainability and openness makes them a successful team. The condoms are sold in a variety of forms, from three-pack ultra-thin condoms ($5.99) to 10-pack lubricated comfort fit condoms ($14.99). But all their condoms are fair trade, vegan and free of toxic chemicals. Sustain also donates 10 percent of its  proceeds to organizations that promote women's reproductive health, such as Planned Parenthood and Health Care Without Harm. Find the condoms at any Fred Meyer and at Pharmaca.

Two Portland-based companies have come together to bring a new, high-tech version of the onesie to outdoor enthusiasts. Airblaster and Poler Stuff will release the limited edition Ninja-Suit X Poler Stuff, or, in their words, "the best long underwear on the planet." The suit, made entirely of Merino wool, is odor -and water-resistant and regulates body temperature. It comes in vibrant red with a full-frontal zipper, a form-fitting hood and a fly that encircles the waist for easy removal when you need to take care of business. The suit, which is available in sizes XS-XL for women and XS-XXL for men, can now be purchased online at polerstuff.com and myninjasuit.com for $189.99.

Monique's Boutique in the Pearl offers affordable designer apparel by Monique Lampe, perfect for layering during the fickle-weather months. The boutique has new arrivals, including pre-shrunk cotton sweaters, silk scarves, hats, full-legged and slim pants, cozy tunics and more. 429 NW 10th Ave. 10 am-6 pm Monday-Saturday and 11 am-5 pm Sunday.

Everybody's favorite local sex toy boutique just got doubly naughty. She Bop hosts the grand opening of its second boutique on Southeast Division this Friday, during Openfest. The shop will raffle off eight She Bop prize packages and donate the proceeds to a number of local nonprofits. You can purchase tickets online or in the store for $5. If you mention the She Bop newsletter announcing the grand opening, you'll get 10 percent off your purchase. 3213 SE Division St. 11 am-8 pm Friday, Oct. 24.
