The King's Court: Here's Your LeBron Sprite Mix Cocktail

Drink away the pain, Kevin Love lovers!

Getting excited for the NBA Finals yet, Portland?

Of course you are!

This is a basketball town! And while you hate Californians—yes, you always say you do, so don't trying stopping nowhometown hero Kevin Love is a member of your soon-to-be-world-champion Cleveland Cavaliers.

Yes, sure, OK, Love got hurt in the first round of the playoffs and the Cavs have looked much better without him running the floor like a three-wheeled milk wagon, goldbricking on defense and hitting those threes with a graceless stroke that reminds me of a drunken drinking bird.

But, Kevin Love is your guy. And you all hate California, right? So here we go, Cavs!

(Lest you come with some bullshit about me being an annoying Ohioan who wants to make you care about a team you do not care about, consider that Warriors star Steph Curry was also born in Akron. I could cheer for either team and be equally homerish! So this is about you, not me—Love is your guy.)

Now, we need some drinks! And since LeBron has his own custom blend of Sprite out, it makes sense to start there.

I asked my fellow Akron native Patrick Williams, the beverage director for Punchbowl Social, which has an adult game room and sports bar at Pioneer Place, for a recipe using the LeBron Sprite mix.

Here's his recipe, which he calls The King's Court.

The King's Court

1.5 ounces Bulleit Rye
.25 oz fresh lemon
.25 oz fresh lime
.5 oz simple syrup
2 dashes of orange bitters

Shake all ingredients, strain into Collins glass, top with 3 ounces of LeBron's Mix. Garnish with orange peel and maraschino cherry.

(Cavs in four. Maybe five if Steph Curry is able to recover from getting repeatedly stuffed by Shump and Bogut lucks into a couple rebounds while posting up TT.)
