Pamplin Media reports the Northwest will soon have a place where you can buy kitschy signs and get mediocre American food. That's right, Cracker Barrel Old Country Store is coming to a shopping center in Tualatin!
According to Pamplin:
If you're a native West Coaster, you are excused for your ignorance about Cracker Barrel. It has no locations in Oregon, Washington, California, Alaska or Hawaii, so unless your family purposely stopped there on road trips, you might have never been in one. For example, I belong to a more Denny's-style family, and had no idea what Cracker Barrel was when I first heard this story today. I'd always assumed it was sort of like Super Cracker:
Apparently, it is not an all-you-can-eat soup and crackers buffet.
Instead, it is a chain restaurant with outposts on the freeways of America that is known best for its gift shop. My co-workers filled me in on the details:
"You can rent audio books at one location and then drop them off at another," said news writer Beth Slovic. "Maybe you can't do that anymore."
"They have weird gift shops full of things your grandma would want," said arts and culture editor Martin Cizmar.
"You want it to be better than it is," said Julie Showers, art director, who added: "KFC is way better."
So, get excited to order up a Momma's Pancake Breakfast® at a worse KFC soon in a suburb near-ish you! Let's hope they've solved their racism problem!
