1313 NW Skyline Blvd., 292-6727, skylineburgers.com. Lunch and dinner daily; breakfast Saturday-Sunday.
This old-school diner is a favorite among hikers, who stop for a burger and fluffy milkshake in a teal-and-purple paper cup after a day on the trail. Breakfast is served on weekends, and there are some problems—the watery coffee made me yearn for Plaid Pantry—but the pancakes have a nice range and the omelets are a spot-on version of the paper-thin and crispy style served at roadside diners on Route 66. The soundtrack matches, including lots of Beach Boys and the pre-Tiffany version of "I Think We're Alone Now." The shake was the best thing we had, and we didn't even get the version with pie blended into it.
